CBSP-2 is a follow-on operation to the Community Benefit Sharing Pilot Project implemented between 2018-2023. The Pilot aimed to establish a benefit sharing scheme between TRHDP and the project area communities. The benefits to be shared with these communities are based on an agreed-upon formula between Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and the dam operator--Tina Hydro Limited (THL)--that will allocate a portion of the annual revenues from the power generated by the dam for an estimated 30 years after the hydropower facility comes into operation. The Pilot designed the institutional arrangements and technical procedures for the implementation of the Community Benefit Share Fund (CBSF) which will invest part of TRHDP revenues to support local development. The Pilot has served to demonstrate the concrete benefits of the hydropower project for the local communities and has reduced disruptions to the early construction phase.
